Everybody has probably seen medical programs on the television, where an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) unit is being used, but would you know how to use one? These units like the one shown are becoming more common now, as we get on with our normal day to day lives. These units are normally placed at large gathering places such as airports, shopping centres. If someone you know, or a perfect strangers heart has stopped, would you have the confidence to react to the situation, and use one of these units?
This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to act to a situation, should that situation arise.
CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) buys time, and keeps the brain alive by supplying oxygen, but a Defibrillator is an electrical device which is used to shock the heart of a casualty who has suffered a Cardiac Arrest. The earlier an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) unit can be used, the better the chance of survival for the casualty.
