As with all our courses they are all DVD based, with practical training, which aids student retention of the skills learnt.

This First Aid at Work course introduces you to Primary and Secondary Care, and is designed to train individuals and company staff that require HSE approved First Aid at Work training to meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (1981) Regulations.
This HSE approved course will provide all the required first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious, bleeding or is ill or injured prior to the arrival of the emergency services. |

It also covers other topics such as COSHH, RIDDOR and other first aid health and safety at work information, which also covers the management of situations that may occur within the working environment.
This First Aid at Work Course in Essex covers all aspects relating to First Aid in the Work Place, including Health and Safety. Here at Essex First Aid Training in Colchester we like to conduct the courses in a stress free learning environment, using plenty of "hands on" scenarios, without the "Over the Top" acting!!
FAW First Aid Course in Essex Training Structure:
- To Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
- The importance of preventing cross infection, with the use of barriers
- The need for recording incidents and actions, in the accident book
- The use of available First Aid Equipment
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
- Administer CPR
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
Also in addition, attendees will learn how to administer First Aid to a casualty with:
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints. This includes suspected spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylactic shock
- Recognize the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
- There is also an exam, and assessment at the end of the course.

It is also now Strongly Recommended by the HSE that the students carry out an Annual First Aid Refresher Course every year to keep their First Aid Skills up to date to prevent "Skills Fade".
