This EFAW, Emergency First Aid at Work Course in Essex, is a 6 hour Training Course designed to train individuals in the administration of First Aid in the Workplace. During the course you will watch video segments and study from a manual that will teach you the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening emergencies safely and with confidence. This course will provide first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious or is bleeding prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
EFAW (Emergency First Aid at Work) Course in Essex Training Structure:
- Students must Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
- The importance of preventing cross infection, i.e Barrier Use.
- The need for recording incidents and actions, Accident books etc.
- The use of First Aid Equipment
- Assess the Scene, and situation in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer First Aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
- Administer CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resucitation)
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
- There is also an exam at the end of the course.

It is also recommended that the students carry our a First Aid Refresher Course every year to keep their First Aid Skills up to date.
